It has been very quiet around here lately...please accept my humble apologies!

Well, to start off with, I had the flu. The real proper flu, in July, JULY! So for five days I lay in bed bed, either asleep, or awake but lying with my eyes closed, not even thinking. Thankfully, the husbandbot took charge and kept everyone dressed, fed and watered, but when I finally got the energy to move onto the couch it really felt like a week had just disappeared! That also meant that I was a week closer to the craft fair! I must admit I panicked, and since then I've been madly trying to catch up, sewing, sewing sewing every evening! Finally I'm starting to feel like I'll at least be able to convert the handsewing I've done over the last few months into finished products, so I'm taking a little break to blog again, which is lucky, because there is only a week to go to the fair! I'm very excited and also a little nervous. I'm just going to try my best to have a good time. As for stock, here are a few pics of finished items waiting to be labelled and tucked away in a bag for next week.

To start with, a few finished monsters, waiting to go to new homes. I'm just finishing writing up their stories which will go on little tags. Their stories and backgrounds are just as important to me as how they look, because they both evolve together. I also hope to have some furry monsters ready in time for the fair.

And look, some actual completed notebooks! The first one caused me to swear just a little, but once I'd been through the process, and written down the measurements and process for myself, I was able to knock out a few more fairly quickly, and I'm quite pleased with how they look too!

I'm also working on a few little extras on the train. Here's a cute little dog keyring, a little hanging heart and a cute cat.

And finally, the completed fox cushion that I first posted about here. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out too! I'm hoping to finish a couple more if I can squeeze them in this week.
Now I'm back on the blog wagon I hope to post again before the fair to show more of my little creations tagged and ready to go. I can't believe its only a week away! Have any of you done craft fairs before? How did your first one go?

Is it July already?

I'm sorry, but when did that happen? Nobody informed me, or even asked permission...where did June go? Are months just allowed to disappear like that???

I realise I haven't posted for a while, but the days have just been disappearing out from under me this month! What's even more scary is the craft fair date in early August is now hurtling rather scarily towards me! Arggggghhh! Stay calm, stay calm! Seriously though, time is flashing by. This last week has been hugely busy, We had a family trip to visit friends and their baby in Glasgow, an estate agent came to value the house, we've been painting rooms and tidying junk, I had a Floorball tournament today (we won all our games yay!) and I've been squeezing sewing in where possible! On Wednesday, I had a day off work, and Rachael from Sew, ray, me and I spent a lovely day sans toddlers, shopping for fabric. This day was an oasis of pleasure in the middle of a mad week! We spent the whole morning cooing over fabric and haberdashery at the two shops with decent sewing selections in a town near us, and then finished it off with a lovely lunch while we chatted about our projects and how we are working towards the craft fair. It was great to just spend face to face time chatting about sewing, and without two little rascals running around! You can read about what Rachael bought on her blog here, and here's a pic of some of the fabric I picked up.

Starting from the bottom up, two metres of some lovely natural coloured linen blend, which is so soft! I have loads of ideas for using this up...I can't wait to get cutting! The two cottons above are the most lovely bright shades of deep pink and sky blue. I picked them without really thinking but when I got home I realised they are almost exactly the same shades of pink and blue I've been embroidering my batch of notebook covers with. I must have those colours on the brain! The fat quarter on top is a lovely bluey grey, and features little silhouette cameos. I'm already thinking it would look great on another notebook cover...

I've also been using those two thread colours on my latest project, a series of animal cushion covers. Here's a sneak peak at two I'm currently working on.
A cute giraffe! This set of cushions will also feature some text as well.
A foxy cushion! He has no features yet, but hopefully for my next post you'll see these two finished and ready to be sewn up. I'm enjoying working on a slightly bigger scale for once! I've also cut out a number of hearts to work on during train journeys this week. This should all keep me busy!
For my next post I also hope to introduce some changes to my blog as well. The graphics, logo and colours were only meant to be temporary to allow me to get started, and it's high time I had an upgrade! I'll show you all as soon as things are complete!

Right then, on with many weeks to the craft fair then? Five????? Really???? Arghhhhhhhhhh and *breathe*
